About this Role

HBK Engineering is seeking a Project Manager for the Civil Engineering team based in Chicago. This position that leads project teams consisting of engineers, designers, and field personnel involved in the design, modification, analysis, and constructability of new and existing utility systems. This executive-level role involves working on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of engineering and construction-related issues while coordinating utility design and relocation efforts on behalf of utility infrastructure owners. The position requires preparing, reviewing, and approving proposals, contracts, and cost estimates while serving as team lead in coordinating detailed design phases for all aspects of utility engineering work.

What You'll Do
  • Lead project teams consisting of engineers, designers, and field personnel involved in design, modification, analysis, and constructability of new and existing utility systems
  • Work on challenging assignments including investigating, troubleshooting, and solving engineering and construction-related issues
  • Coordinate utility design and relocation efforts on behalf of utility infrastructure owners
  • Prepare, review, and approve proposals, contracts, and cost estimates with executive authority
  • Act as team lead in coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of utility engineering work
  • Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements
  • Prepare reports and studies that present technical information clearly and concisely to meet client requirements
  • Perform independent reviews of work performed by project teams for quality assurance
  • Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget
  • Negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with sub-consultants and clients
  • Adhere to safety initiatives as needed by the organization
  • Manage, develop, mentor, and evaluate resources within the organization
  • Train project coordinators and senior project coordinators in project management best practices
  • Travel as needed for project requirements and client meetings
  • Control expenditures to meet budget allocations and financial targets
  • Create proposals in coordinated effort with project team leadership, contractors, and other key team members
  • Provide project team leadership through completion of project financial accruals and forecasts
  • Identify and resolve project/program budget, forecast, and authorization concerns early and develop resolutions to meet required project metrics
  • Monitor and resolve program financial risks and opportunities and provide detailed analysis of variances to budget, quarterly plan, and month-over-month variance analysis.

  • CAPM or PMP licensure preferred

The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and the potential to participate in our discretionary annual incentive bonus program.
