Job description

Job Overview:

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the Project Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects. This is a hands-on position involving subcontractor coordination, material procurement, scheduling, project documentation, inspections, and jobsite logistics.


The ideal candidate will have experience working in a commercial construction environment and be comfortable coordinating with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and design teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager with the day-to-day management of construction projects from preconstruction through completion.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
  • Track material and equipment orders and expedite deliveries to prevent project delays.
  • Assist with project schedules, milestones, and overall progress tracking.
  • Maintain RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and other project documentation.
  • Assist with project budgets, cost tracking, and scope management.
  • Support jobsite inspections, quality control, and safety requirements.
  • Identify project issues and coordinate with the appropriate parties to resolve them.
  • Coordinate jobsite logistics, deliveries, manpower, materials, and workflow.
  • Review plans, specifications, and project documents to help ensure work is completed according to requirements.
  • Prepare project reports, meeting notes, schedules, and status updates.
  • Maintain clear communication between field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, designers, clients, and management.
  • Assist the Project Manager in ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to required quality standards.


Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in commercial construction project management or project coordination.
  • Understanding of construction schedules, subcontractor coordination, procurement, and project documentation.
  • Experience with material expediting and vendor/subcontractor coordination.
  • Familiarity with construction inspections, quality control, safety requirements, and building codes.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software.
  • Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or related education is preferred; equivalent construction experience will also be considered.
  • Ability to work on-site in Indianapolis, IN.
