Job description

SAGE PAs provide essential support to the company principal, senior project managers, environmental scientists (project managers and junior scientists), other staff (i.e., drilling professionals and accounting staff) and SAGE clients in accomplishing both complex and general tasks, as needed.

PAs draft reports, compile report appendices and produce correspondence including, but not limited to; routine status reports, reliance letters, and environmental assessments (e.g. Phase I's, Limited Subsurface Investigations, Site Investigation Reports, UST Closure Assessments, Remedial Action Work Plans, soil disposal applications, Environmental Land Use Restrictions, Soil Management Plans, Public Notices, etc.).

PAs transcribe field notes and/or data into digital SAGE format to create supporting documents such as boring logs and Excel tables/spreadsheet, etc. PAs organize and track down any missing information/data from science staff, as needed.

PAs also assist project managers in managing sites through the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) and/or Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) regulatory system in order to keep the project on schedule and receive necessary signatures and/or RIDEM/MassDEP approvals.

  • High school diploma and a minimum of 2 years' related experience.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro preferred.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A valid driver's license with acceptable violation history may be required.
  • Draft, review, finalize, and distribute environmental reports and technical deliverables, including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Limited Subsurface Investigations (LSIs), Underground Storage Tank (UST) closure applications and reports, soil disposal applications, routine status reports, and other client deliverables. 

  • Prepare report sections, drawings, boring logs, test pit logs, and supporting documentation using Strater, TabLogs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other project software. 

  • Assist with regulatory and historical file reviews through RIDEM, MassDEP, and other available sources to support project investigations and reporting. 

  • Receive, review, quality control (QC), organize, and distribute laboratory analytical data; maintain project databases, tables, graphs, and tracking systems as new data is received. 

  • Perform data entry, field note transcription, document management, and document control activities to ensure project records are accurate, complete, and compliant with quality standards. 

  • Maintain project and program tracking tools, including schedules, timelines, milestones, deliverable dates, resource assignments, and project status updates. 

  • Support project and program managers with resource planning, workload coordination, project administration, and communication of project progress, deadlines, and deliverables. 

  • Coordinate with clients regarding project status, reporting schedules, and deliverable timelines. 

  • Prepare and distribute public notifications, including certified mail correspondence and other project-related communications. 

  • Assist with utility locating services, clearance coordination, and the development of drawings and directives for proposed boring and test pit locations. 

  • Provide GIS support and maintain project maps, figures, presentations, and visual deliverables. 

  • Support office operations by assisting with phone, reception, and general administrative duties as needed. 

  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, project requirements, and health and safety procedures; participate in pre-task planning and promptly report safety concerns. 

  • Perform additional project coordination, engineering support, and administrative duties as assigned.
