Position Description
Reports To: Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager
Position Summary
The Project Engineer supports the entire project management team in optimizing the profitability of company projects. The Project Engineer shall conduct business professionally, strive for team excellence, and always emphasize Faulconer's Core Values.
Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in initial project setup, budget download, and cost code integration
  • Develop Subcontracts, including scope, cost, production tracking, entry and change management, and coordinate with Subcontractors throughout the project
  • Develop, enter, and track Purchase Orders, Invoices, Cost Codes, Pay Applications, and Change Orders throughout the project
  • Assist in resource planning and crew development on projects
  • Upload the latest plans and specifications as requested by Project Management
  • Assist in P6 Scheduling - data entry, development, and updating
  • Assist in production tracking of Faulconer and Subcontractor scopes of work
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of submittals and RFIs in a timely fashion
  • Assist field staff with training needs
  • Review crew timecards and provide the project team with a cost analysis
  • Develop production planners based on Field Leadership look-ahead and highlight activities that are off-budget
  • Assist with the creation of Miss Utility tickets and ensure that field staff have the necessary information
  • Assist in overall project cost tracking and learn how to complete Cost to Complete on a project-specific basis
  • Document, maintain, and distribute minute meetings as requested
  • Assist in project QA/QC as needed
  • Generate and update the project Dig Board

Position Expectations
  • This position operates in both an office and on construction sites
  • Will be exposed to various weather conditions, working around moving machinery/equipment, excessive noise, and dust/dirt on job sites
  • Will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as protective eyewear, safety vests, hard hats, and appropriate footwear

Position Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • College Degree
  • 1-2 years working in a construction environment
  • Familiarity with construction processes
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies (Heavyjob, Viewpoint, Procore, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks quickly and accurately
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Detail-oriented and organized

Work Authorization / Security Clearance
  • Employee must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Drug screens are required after an offer is accepted, and continued employment is based on the initial drug screen and any future/random drug screens administered.
  • A background check will be required.
  • A confidentiality agreement may be required.
  • Driving records may be required.
  • Further clearance may be required by clients (i.e., government or military site access).
