Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager

Construction - HVAC & Plumbing

Kansas City, Kansas


Overview

Join a well-established commercial mechanical contractor in Kansas City with a clear path into Project Management. You’ll work directly under a tenured Operations Manager who will mentor and develop you into a full PM role.


Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers on commercial HVAC/plumbing projects
  • Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, and change orders
  • Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Help manage schedules, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
  • Attend project meetings and communicate updates to stakeholders
  • Track project progress and identify potential risks/issues


Qualifications

  • 1–5+ years in construction (mechanical preferred)
  • Experience with commercial projects a plus
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency with construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, etc. preferred)
