OverviewMcKenney's Inc. is seeking Project Engineers to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia. This exciting role is a 9-12-month entry-level position designed to expose you to McKenney’s processes, capabilities, and scope of work before moving into an Assistant Project Manager, Engineer, Sales Engineer, and/or some other role within the organization.
SUMMARY
As a Project Engineer, you will work in a team environment where you will participate and learn McKenney’s preconstruction processes, design and virtual construction, fabrication workflows, field installation, mechanical systems, and start-up and commissioning of those systems. 

ResponsibilitiesLearning objectives in this role include, but are not limited to, the detailing of mechanical systems (ductwork, mechanical piping, and plumbing), coordinating McKenney’s work with customers and other trades through the BIM process, estimating projects, interacting with our suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors, and working in the field as part of an installation crew. In addition to this training, we expect the Project Engineer to develop good relationships through regular interactions with project managers, field and shop foreman, virtual construction team members, field operations, engineers, suppliers, and other trade sub-contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or building construction; will accept equivalent business management degree with a focus in construction or engineering.
  • If no 4-year degree is attained, a High School diploma with a minimum 5+ years internal experience working with plumbing, piping, or HVAC systems in office or the field is required.
  • Must have PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in the construction industry.
  • Two years of experience managing mechanical work
  • Strong Business Acumen (entrepreneurship counts)
  • Knowledge of Account Management (managing multiple customers)
  • Leadership exposure (conferences, training, etc.)

  • Strong leadership skills, self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to respond quickly to changing customer demands

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
  • Work involves moderate exposure to elements like hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noises.
  • The work environment involves exposure to construction-related hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Light physical effort. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds and some standing or walking.
