POSITION PURPOSE:
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) position is expected to gain exposure and training in executing project management responsibilities. The APM has demonstrated the ability to produce and assemble a complete project and has experience with multiple types of projects. The APM has shown leadership ability in effectively delegating tasks, assigning duties, monitoring progress, and assuming responsibility for their accuracy and completeness of their work alongside Design and Project Engineers. The APM takes initiative in coordinating the project with internal and external project teams members.
The Assistant Project Manager's assignments will vary from specific project responsibilities to managing projects with growing complexity. As the APM grows in experience, he/she may be called upon to assume full Project Management responsibilities for a project within their experience capabilities. Assignments will be made based on consideration of project type, size, appropriateness, and overall project management workload.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Sound knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals
  • Able to use Revit to navigate a model and review and coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Performs work involving the application of all conventional aspects of structural engineering to the functional area of the assignment.
  • Excellent verbal communications and technical writing skills.
  • Conceptualizes the initial engineering design approach for major phases of projects or has production management responsibility (not responsible charge) for the civil/structural engineering work on a project of limited scope.
  • Resolves a variety of complex problems, (i.e. conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).
  • Ability to prepare a complete set of plans and growing in ability to manage and supervise the design and ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the project with the project team and other constituents.
  • Prepare schedules; conducts or coordinates civil/structural engineering work.
  • Review plans, prepares/reviews technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Participates in contract bidding and administration.
  • Maintains close contact with the client throughout development of the project design and drawings
  • Work alongside functional departments to fulfill corporate needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with Structural Focus or related engineering degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in structural design.
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam

Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in Revit, SAPP, RAM, RISA. Good written & verbal communication skills, good organizational skills. Good understanding of the International Building Code structural sections. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Able to make visits to construction job sites.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Predominantly indoors.
