Assistant Project Manager – Construction

Location: New York, NY
Position: Full-Time, On-Site
Anticipated Start: November 2026
Anticipated Completion: March 2027

Position Summary

Laland Baptiste, LLC is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support an emergency construction project involving the replacement of a damaged sewer pipe within an institutional facility.

The APM will provide full-time, on-site day-shift coverage beginning during preconstruction and continuing through project completion. The construction phase will take place during a limited shutdown window and will require strong coordination, documentation, and schedule management.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day construction management and project coordination.
  • Monitor field activities, project progress, schedules, and critical milestones.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Track RFIs, submittals, change orders, shop drawings, and project documentation.
  • Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract requirements.
  • Attend project meetings and maintain meeting minutes and action items.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate daily reports and project records.
  • Identify and escalate potential schedule, coordination, or construction issues.
  • Assist with project closeout and punch-list activities.

Qualifications

  • Construction management, engineering, architecture, or related experience.
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, or similar construction role.
  • Public-sector or institutional construction experience preferred.
  • Experience with renovation, MEP/plumbing, infrastructure, shutdown, or accelerated construction projects is a plus.
  • Knowledge of RFIs, submittals, change orders, schedules, and construction documentation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven construction environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced APM who is comfortable supporting a high-priority project with an aggressive construction schedule.

Pay Rate: $45.00-$60.00/Hourly Salary. Actual compensation will depend on the individual’s qualifications, education, skills, and experience.
