Job description

Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Engineering Designer to join its Civil/Site Discipline in Newburgh, NY. Learn the practical application of engineering principles by participating in the collection, processing, and evaluation of data and assisting in the initial preparation of technical reports, plans and other contract documents. The individual's degree of involvement will be based upon his/her exposure and experience with respect to the assigned work.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering calculations and create estimates.
  • Develop drawings by modifying or replicating a prior project, applying changes and corrections from redlined drawings, and/or creating drawings from sketches of others or from own design.
  • Ensure designs are in accordance with company and client production and design standards.
  • Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc.
  • Interpret and understand drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects and respond to requests for information regarding same.
  • Conduct field inspections and surveys, investigate variables, obtain measurements, photographs, videos, and take notes; write reports documenting same.
  • Research and apply code provisions to design.
  • Work with senior engineers to create project designs.
  • Utilize AutoCad Civil 3D on a daily basis.
  • Research design options and document findings for project manager.
  • Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using own judgement to make adaptations and modifications to existing designs.
    Assist Project Engineers and leaders as needed in the creation of designs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
  • 0-2+ years of related experience.
  • Engineer in Training preferred.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Interest in Civil/Site Engineering projects; prior experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong CAD skills, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD, and WaterCAD.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Land Development project experience is a plus.

Compensation: $75,810 to 89,040 per year (depending on qualifications)
