Description
The Assistant Director of Engineering will be responsible for assisting the Director of Engineering maintaining and Overseeing 11 buildings, public plaza, ice rink, all mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems and related equipment. Acts in the absence of the Director of Engineering.
Essential Responsibilities
Operations
  • Responsible for assisting in the overall management of Engineering colleagues including training and development.
  • Responsible for maintaining equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ensures the upkeep of the guest areas to maintain an attractive resort.
  • Responsible for assisting in conducting walk-throughs and visually assessing the efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structures of the resort mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment.
  • Maintaining familiarity with chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatments, pneumatics, boilers, refrigeration, compressors etc.
  • Oversees completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms and back of house spaces.
  • Monitors and trains all direct reports on current safety and sanitation polices and procedures that impact the resort.
  • Oversees completion of all repairs, replacement and renovation projects to offices and employee work areas.
  • Maintains preventative maintenance program.
  • Displays an understanding of public / guest / colleague safety, plus security of the resort, facilities and equipment.
  • Maintains a close working relationship with all Head of departments.
  • Creates and ensures compliance of the maintenance request program.
  • Ensures Engineering colleagues are aware of fire procedures and ensure they attend regular training.
  • Is a qualified First Aider.
  • Ensures all guests are staying in a safe and secure environment.
  • Understands how to monitor CCTV and Security Cameras.
  • Recognizes safety hazards and trains all Engineering colleagues how to do the same.
  • Works as part of the Management Team to ensure all security and safety standards are adhered to by all colleagues throughout the resort.
  • Displays an ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action.
  • Oversees all shift activity, ensuring Engineering colleagues are meeting maintenance targets.
  • Monitors energy conservation controls and implements corrective action if needed.
  • Oversees any Engineering related incidents which arise on shift, keeping in mind the best interest of the hotel.
  • Ensures compliance with hotel and Engineering SOPs.
  • Maintains familiarity with hotel lock system and understands the importance of key control for effective security measures.
  • Ensures Supervisors are trained to scrutinize staff, analyze productivity and makes necessary recommendations to the Director of Engineering regarding both positive and negative actions by staff.
  • Ensures that all colleagues' accidents/incidents receive immediate and professional First Aid treatment by the Security department.
  • Each colleague is expected to carry out all reasonable requests by management which the colleague is capable of performing.
