Position Overview:

The assistant project manager assists in the organization and allocation of materials and labor for the profitable installation of a project based on the plans, specifications, and estimate of the scope of the work.

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The following duties and responsibilities are not all-inclusive and are subject to change. The position performs additional duties as requested to meet the priorities and ongoing needs of the organization.

  • Co-Manage projects efficiently and economically in the areas of scheduling, budgeting, manpower allocation, material supply, tool coordination, and reporting
  • Coordinate and assist the estimation process from planning to implementation
  • Review project quotes for accuracy, and compatibility with Gregory Electric abilities and resources
  • Present project quotes and follow up with reporting and inquiries
  • Direct and collaborate with team for project implementation
  • Calculate and coordinate purchase of materials and/or equipment
  • Monitor job sites and staff to stay abreast of progress, safety hazards, and changes
  • Inspect quality of work and address concerns
  • Develop new customers and maintain existing customers through calls, texts, and emails to stimulate a positive working relationship
  • Assist with analyzing cost reports and prepare pay estimates
  • Participate in random drug and alcohol testing that supports Gregory's commitment to a drug-free workplace
Qualifications and Requirements:

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Advanced ability to read, and understand blueprints, schematics, technical service manuals, professional publications, contracts, and procedures
  • Proficient understanding of the National Electric Code
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, use of the Internet, email, and industry related programs
  • Proficiency in critical thinking, data analysis, and problem resolution
  • Advanced knowledge of OSHA standards
  • Exceptional ability to actively listen and communicate effectively (written, verbal and nonverbal)
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships, both internal and external
  • Requires self-motivation, organization, prioritization, and time management
  • Adhere to Gregory Electric's safety rules and company policies
Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Technical degree, 2-3 yrs. of estimating experience, construction management, or a combination of education, training and/or field experience
  • Successful completion of the Apprenticeship Training Program (preferred)
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds
  • Capable of wearing OSHA required personal protective equipment
  • Accurately perform advanced math calculations to include addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, multiplication, division, formulas, budgets, time schedules and the use of measurements
  • Ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, and related equipment
  • Continually required to talk, hear, and see
  • Required to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, push or pull
  • Reaches with hands/arms in full range of motion and full use of hands and fingers
Travel Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be fully insured according to South Carolina law
  • Maintain a driving record with less than 6 points
  • Ability to travel within all of Gregory Electric's territory when required
  • Proven ability to operate a vehicle safely and within legal and regulatory requirements
Work Environment:
  • Ability to work in an office and outdoors continuously for 40 hours per week with overtime as required
  • Noise level is mild in the office and moderate to loud in the field
  • Occasionally exposed to a variety of conditions at job sites
