Industrial Manufacturing Engineering, Assistant Professor

Job no: 558541
Work type: Instructional Faculty – Tenured/Tenure-Track
Location: Pomona
Salary Range: $109,920 - $113,928

Position description: The Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for one tenure‑track Assistant Professor position beginning in Fall 2027. Candidates should have expertise in Human‑System Integration (including Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality), Human Factors and Ergonomics, Intelligent Systems, and Decision Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a broad range of industrial engineering courses (e.g., Human Factors Engineering, Operations Research, Facility Planning, Lean Manufacturing), develop new courses in human systems integration, and establish a strong, externally funded research program in their area(s) of expertise.

Key responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in industrial and manufacturing engineering.
  • Develop and deliver new courses in Human‑System Integration and related fields.

Minimum requirements:

  • PhD in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited university by the start date.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and student success.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred/Desired qualifications:

  • Academic experience and strength in Human‑System Integration, Human Factors and Ergonomics, Intelligent Systems, and Decision Sciences.
  • Industrial experience in the Human‑System Integration areas that will enhance teaching and research.
  • Experience in university teaching, mentoring and supervising students, and improving industrial and manufacturing engineering curricula.
  • Demonstrated ability to author peer‑reviewed publications and/or secure external funds.

  • Unofficial transcripts of the highest degree earned (official transcripts required of finalists).
  • Teaching evaluations by students (if applicable).

Finalists will be required to provide official transcripts, three letters of reference dated within the last two years, and a presentation showcasing scholarly work and a teaching demonstration.
