About the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery

About the Cardiothoracic Surgeon Position

The Dell Medical School, in partnership with Ascension Texas, seeks a skilled and dedicated Cardiothoracic Surgeon. Candidates must be fellowship trained and board certified (or eligible within five years) by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. The role requires excellent clinical skills, passion for education, scholarly potential, and commitment to excellence in an innovative medical school.

Essential Functions
  • Provision of clinical care to patients with cardiovascular disease as part of a multidisciplinary surgical team.
  • Medical student and resident education.
  • Participation in clinical, health services, translational, or basic science research.
  • Integration into a multidisciplinary team with a passion for quality, innovation, and teamwork, including training and mentoring of students and residents.
  • Active participation in the academic department following all required departmental policies.
  • Integration of an equity framework of health and health care into all aspects of medical education, clinical care, research, and community impact.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Meets applicable credentialing and privileging standards for the specialty.
