Description
Johns Hopkins Carey Business School invites applications for one non-tenure, practice-track faculty position in the discipline of Operations Management & Business Analytics to start in January 2027 or later.
Carey Business School has campuses in Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC. This position may be primarily located in either Baltimore, MD or Washington, DC but be expected to teach Carey students and engage with colleagues in both locations.
We welcome applications from candidates motivated by the unique opportunity to participate in a fast-growing business school at a premier private university.
We are interested in candidates with a passion for teaching and a strong record in the classroom, delivering high-quality business education to graduate students. In addition, successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the school's educational mission more broadly.
The Operations Management & Business Analytics faculty at the Carey School consists of both tenure-track and practice-track faculty, with varied interests across all areas of Operations Management & Business Analytics, as well as practitioner-oriented engagement.
Responsibilities include:
  • Teaching fundamental and advanced Operations Management & Business Analytics courses at the MBA/MS level, including, for example, Statistics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence for Business Analytics, Data Visualization, Simulation
  • Contributing to the School's educational mission through, for example: curriculum development; service to the School, the University, and the profession; outreach to business education or practitioner associations; impact on practice through such mechanisms as consulting, media interviews, op-eds, and public presentations

Position based in Baltimore, MD or Washington DC
Qualifications
  • A PhD degree in Operations Management, Business Analytics or a related field is required for the appointment of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Practice, and must be conferred by employment start date. For Lecturer and Senior Lecturer appointments, a PhD is strongly preferred but a master's degree is sufficient.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching in a business school or graduate professional school is highly desirable.
  • Successful prior engagement in business/policy related activities preferred.

Depending on the level of academic and/or professional experience of the successful candidate, the appointment will be made at the Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level. Under exceptional circumstances, appointments will be considered at the Full Professor level.

  • Assistant Professor / Lecturer: $95,000 - $165,000 a year
