Position Summary:
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking outstanding applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in electrical and computer engineering, with emphasis in computer engineering. Candidates with interests and expertise in traditional and emerging areas of computer engineering, including Internet of Things, Next Generation Computing, Wearable Systems, Computer Architecture, and Embedded Systems, as well as strong candidates from related areas of computing will be considered. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, conduct research, and provide community and university service.
This is a full time, benefit-eligible position with a 9-month academic appointment. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University of Wisconsin System has a nationally top ranked retirement plan and a comprehensive benefits package. The department also provides relocation assistance, and the university has a Trailing Partners Engagement Program.
Review of candidates will begin on September 14, 2026. Applications will be considered until the position is filled. This position can start either in January 2027 or August 2027.
Key Job Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility will be to develop and teach undergraduate courses in computer engineering and related subjects. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting research and seeking extramural funding, developing curriculum, advising students and student organizations, participating in outreach including visits to industry and recruiting local students, and participating in department, college, and university service committees.
The applicant is expected to teach some of the courses using alternative delivery methods including distance education. Candidates with expertise/experience in high-performance GPU/TPU computing, machine learning, cybersecurity, IoT, or wearable systems are particularly encouraged to apply.

- A Ph.D. in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field (or ABD with expected completion by December 2026).

Computer Engineering at UW-Platteville
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is recognized for its excellent undergraduate programs. The programs provide students with the knowledge and experience needed to pursue a productive lifelong career in industry or to engage in further study at the graduate level. It consists of Electrical Engineering program, Computer Engineering program, and Sustainability and Renewable Energy Systems. In Spring 2026, the ECE department served a total of 327 undergraduate students. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering aligns with the mission statement of the university by delivering a hands-on approach, where students learn by doing. The hands-on approach is evident in the curriculum, with 69 credits of coursework having a laboratory experience associated with them.
The department also offers courses to remote students through the UW-Platteville Engineering Partnerships (PEP) program. Most of the courses in ECE department are provided through distance modality for students enrolled in the PEP program. College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science: The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department is in the College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (EMS).
