Job description

Assistant Professor in Physician Assistant (Ruskin, FL) Position Summary:

Gannon Universityโ€™s Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences Physician Assistant Program at the Ruskin, Florida campus is seeking applications for a faculty position. The appointment for this 12-month, tenure track or teaching track appointment begins July 2026. Gannon University is committed to excellence in studentโ€‘centered learning with an emphasis on studentโ€‘learning outcomes. The faculty work collaboratively with colleagues, deliver instruction, advise students, engage in scholarly activities in keeping with the Boyer Model of Scholarship as is appropriate to the application and receipt of tenure and promotion at Gannon, and engage in University, professional, and community service activities. Specific responsibilities include working with didactic and clinical year students enrolled in the PA program according to established ARCโ€‘PA standards. This position is responsible for advising students, lecturing within the program, preparing student examinations, providing research guidance to graduateโ€‘level students, and providing service to the University, community, and PA profession.

The Ruskin, FL location is found along the Gulf Coast of Florida in the beautiful Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg/Bradenton area.

Essential Functions:
  1. Teach 24 credit hours in the academic year or as otherwise specified by the faculty memberโ€™s appointment notice; student course evaluations are to be completed in each course. Faculty are expected to employ sound pedagogical practices and to use technology as appropriate, including the Universityโ€™s learning management system. Faculty shall assist with course revisions and curriculum development as needed.
  2. Achieve appropriate studentโ€‘learning outcomes in all courses taught.
  3. Engage in scholarly pursuits pertinent to their academic discipline. Scholarship, as defined by the Boyer model, includes The Scholarship of Discovery, The Scholarship of Integration, The Scholarship of Application, The Scholarship of Teaching, and The Scholarship of Engagement.
  4. Participate in service to the University, the community and to their profession. Attend commencement exercises and community meetings.
  5. Participate in ongoing professional development.
  6. Assist, advise, and mentor students enrolled in the University.
  7. Fulfill the essential duties and responsibilities of a faculty member as described in Volume IV of the Gannon University Institutional Policy Manual, which contains the approved policies and procedures of the University concerning the terms and conditions of faculty employment at the University.
Required Qualifications:

Education/Experience: Masterโ€™s degree required. Appropriate fullโ€‘time clinical experience required.

Rank: In accordance with the Universityโ€™s standards, the Provost and Vice President for Student Experience awards initial rank at the time of employment.

Licenses and Certifications: Current NCCPA certification required for PAs; candidates must have or be eligible for PA, MD, or DO licensure in Florida.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree is preferred.
  • Prior teaching or clinical preceptor experience and research experience are preferred.
