Injection Molding Process Technician – 2nd & 3rd Shift

Location: Northwest Chicago Suburbs
Schedule: 2nd & 3rd Shift Openings
Pay: $26–$28/hour, based on experience
Work Environment: On-Site

Position Overview

An established plastics manufacturer in the Northwest Chicago suburbs is hiring experienced Injection Molding Process Technicians for both 2nd and 3rd shift.

This is a hands-on position for someone who understands the injection molding process and can independently perform mold startups, setups, process adjustments, and troubleshooting.

Candidates with strong injection molding experience who enjoy diagnosing problems and keeping production running efficiently are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do

  • Start production molds and establish stable molding processes.
  • Troubleshoot molding defects, process variations, tooling issues, and equipment problems.
  • Adjust molding parameters to maintain part quality and consistent production.
  • Perform mold setups, mold changes, and production changeovers.
  • Monitor processes and identify opportunities to improve cycle time, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Assist with routine cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance of production molds.
  • Set up and make adjustments to robotic and automated equipment.
  • Interpret molding graphs and process data when diagnosing production issues.
  • Assist engineering with mold sampling, trials, and process development.
  • Communicate significant tooling, equipment, or process problems to production leadership.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized production area.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of injection molding setup, processing, and troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of injection molding equipment and processes.
  • Experience performing mold setups, startups, and changeovers.
  • Working knowledge of thermoplastic materials.
  • Ability to troubleshoot molding defects and identify process-related root causes.
  • Understanding of scientific molding principles and data-driven process troubleshooting.
  • RJG, Master Molder, or similar scientific molding experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to interpret molding graphs and process information.
  • Experience working with robotics or other molding automation is a plus.
  • Comfortable working independently in a production environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Personal hand tools appropriate for mold setup work.

Shift Opportunities

Openings are currently available on both 2nd and 3rd shift.
