Job Description:

Engineering Manager, Bridges

Parsons has been a leader in the planning, design, and delivery of bridge infrastructure worldwide for more than 75 years. Our Canada team is looking for a highly experienced engineer to join our growing team in Halifax. This person will desire to work on creating innovative, practical solutions to variousinfrastructure projects out of our new Halifax office.

Position Overview:

The Engineering Manager, Bridges and Marine, will assist in advancing the growth of our practice by taking a leadership role of our Halifax team. You will lead feasibility studies and designs of infrastructure along the most important corridors in our regions, cities and towns across the Atlantic Provinces. Assignments will address design, FEA modeling, inspections and construction services. There will be opportunities to progress projects to preliminary and detailed design, tender, and construction.

Your knowledge of bridge design methods, goals and objectives will be instrumental in helping us win new work and execute projects to the clients' satisfaction. You will be responsible for working with our senior management to identify new opportunities within the Maritimes, be instrumental in developing proposals and helping us win opportunities. You will plan and define project / program goals and devise methods to accomplish them, as well as coordinate projects through all project phases from inception, planning, design, construction and closeout. Along with your P.Eng or PE designation and 10-15+ years of experience, you'll have experience managing local projects, industry contacts and a strong work ethic.

  • Strategize and Grow: Partner with the Regional Director to develop and execute strategic initiatives that expand our market presence in the Maritimes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering focusing on structures.

  • Professional Status: Hold a Professional Engineer registration in Canada or PE designation

  • Extensive Experience: Bring 10-15 years of hands-on experience in bridge structural design, demonstrating your deep industry knowledge and practical skills.

  • Technical Mastery: Possess in-depth knowledge of bridge standards (including CAN/CSA-S6) and proficiency with leading structural analysis software such as SAP, CSiBridge, MIDAS, and others.

  • Leadership in Action: Proven track record in leading or developing comprehensive plans and design projects for bridge infrastructure, driving successful outcomes from concept to completion.

  • Mentorship and Team Development: Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, motivate, and lead a team of highly qualified professionals, nurturing their growth and achieving collective excellence.

  • Regulatory Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of national, provincial, and municipal processes, policies, guidelines, and standards related to bridge engineering, with an eye on evolving industry trends.
