About Strescon Limited

Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollowcore slabs, precast pile, and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq.ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq.ft. in Bedford, Nova Scotia.ย 

In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catchย basins.ย ย 

Job Summary

The Precast Plant Engineer directs operations within the precast plant including overall planning and project execution, ensuring schedules are kept and safety processes are adhered to. This role will provide direction to improve the organization's overall production plans, systems and procedures. Precast Plant Engineer is responsible for analyzing operations, designing workflows and production processes, reducing inefficiency, and ensuring final products meet established quality standards. This position requires a solid understanding of operations combined with the desire to develop and maintain relationships within a diverse workforce.

  • Oversee planning and execution of all processes within the plant consisting of various concrete products
  • Create and manage facilities budgets including internal/external maintenance, tools, and repair/replacement of equipment
  • Continuously identify opportunities for improvement across all plant operations and ensure functional implementation
  • Assist in the planning and execution of all operational projects and processes
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Assist with form design and form repairs
  • Share knowledge with others to assist in promoting a better-trained workforce
  • Inventory control of raw materials and finished products
  • Involvement with plant certifications
  • Other duties as assigned

Technical Requirements

  • Four-year Civil Engineering diploma or relevant amount of education and experience
  • Previous experience overseeing / managing a plant in a concrete or construction environment is an asset
  • Familiarity surrounding safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and stewardship processes
  • Strong knowledge of production processes and standards
  • Proficiency in programs such as Microsoft Office, Google SketchUp and AutoCAD, with exposure to other engineering related software
  • Ability to understand construction drawings
  • Experience working with unionized employees is an asse
