Job description

Seaman Paper, headquartered in Leominster, Massachusetts, is a leading global manufacturer of environmentally sustainable specialty paper and packaging solutions. Over the last decade, Seaman Paper has grown domestic and global manufacturing operations to meet the needs of their customers worldwide. We are seeking team members to join our manufacturing team in Gardner. We have positions for skilled as well as entry level individuals. As a team, we strive for quality first and safety always! Responsibilities of a Press Assistant include preparing a press to print according to a customer’s specifications, testing ink viscosity, cleaning press components, loading/unloading paper and general assistance to the operator. Attention to details is a must! Our work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility. There is continuous noise, machinery with fast moving parts and walking on concrete floors.

Salary Range: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment for all employees and customers complying with organizational and OSHA safety standards, procedures, and regulations. Adhere to all company safety guidelines including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Communicate with previous shift supervisor and co-workers any outstanding manufacturing, packing or shipping issues.
  • Return all equipment to the designated area.
  • Maintain work areas in clean and orderly condition
  • Obtain the required ink for specific job, ensure ink color in kits matches the press sample. Test ink viscosity by performing flow rate test, communicate any issues to press operator
  • Perform routine press maintenance and cleaning. Remove ink supply and recovery components from the press. Wash components, removing all ink, using solvents/alcohol as necessary. Reinstall clean components to press.
  • Assist in the operation of the press machine. Monitor ink consumption, assist with the loading of raw materials
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years’ experience in manufacturing environment, safely operating motorize equipment such as hand trucks, etc.

Work Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the United States.
