Mission Statement
As a Mannington Associate I am expected to conduct myself in a manner which supports the company's values and philosophy, while performing in the best interest of my fellow associates. I am expected to contribute to our mission statement: to be the best people to do business with in the flooring industry.
Job Summary
The Die Press Operator is responsible for running orders on any of the Die Presses that Mannington possesses. Die Press Operators must be flexible in changing Die Presses and exhibit proper know-how in settings up, running and troubleshooting the equipment as outlined in Standard Work Instructions and execute good judgement in escalating issues to the Die Press Lead or Shift Manager when an issue is deemed outside of their control/ability. Die Press Operators must meet productivity and quality goals of the team as outlined by Mannington Management, Policies and Standard Work Instructions.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Load and setup Die Press and Bevel Line for different product sizes and Gauge Thicknesses as required by each order without assistance and as outlined in Standard Work Instructions.
  • Operate and load material into the die press per Standard Work Instructions.
  • Monitor material at all points during the process and ensure consistent quality.
  • Monitor production activities to eliminate delays
  • Record run condition data and quality data per Mannington specifications and requirements
  • Maintain cleanliness and appearance of workstations.
  • Perform the Die Press Packer position when needed.
  • Communicate defects to management / Quality Control Department. Work with Quality to eliminate defects being created from the equipment.
  • Work with and Communicate to Maintenance equipment related malfunctions that impact productivity and scrap.

Job Requirements and Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be prepared to work flexible or extended hours as necessary to meet the requirements of the Company, including weekends and/or holidays and extended shift patterns.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Must be quality conscious.
  • Must be a highly motivated team player that is capable of leading by example to assist others to move to the next level.
  • Must be able to communicate and direct Packers during a change over and order change in order to minimize downtime and facilitate teamwork.
  • Ability to perform basic mechanical troubleshooting / adjustments.
  • Good computer skills using Microsoft applications and SAP, familiarity with an HMI.
  • Ability to operate and pass tests for pallet jacks, forklift and other industrial equipment
  • Strong understanding of Mannington products, raw materials, material movement, finishing and quality processes.
  • Strong mathematical skills, capable of reading millimeters and inches measurements.
  • Must be capable of using a RF gun.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, push, pull & reach for long periods of time. Must be able to lift & carry up to 60 lbs. Ability to maneuver around an array of machinery. Use of hands to finger, handle or feel. Color & peripheral vision; depth perception & ability to adjust focus. Work environment conditions include: exposure to moving mechanical parts; fumes, airborne particles and chemicals; extreme heat & loud noise level in some areas of the facility. Ability to quickly respond to a signal when it appears. Must be able to wear safety shoes & other assigned PPE for the duration of the shift. Ability to work in an efficient & timely manner, multitasking where necessary.
  • Ability to perform duties which requires tolerance of standing, repetitive hand movements, continual bending and squatting, near/far/depth/color vision, and inside ambient temperatures.
  • Lifting slabs 4-8 seconds, with slab weighing 6 lbs.
  • Lifting 30 lbs. box with both hands every 20-60 seconds.
