The Prep Cook at KYU plays a crucial role in ensuring that our kitchen operates efficiently. The Prep Cook is knowledgeable about ingredients and technical processes and works collaboratively with other kitchen staff. Prep Cooks at KYU take ownership of preparing ingredients, managing their stations, and assisting in creating dishes according to our restaurant's recipes and specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow instructions provided by the Chef Team.
  • Ensure that food preparation and storage areas meet health and safety standards.
  • Maintain inventory and supplies.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to properly prepare menu items.
  • Set up and stock the kitchen with all necessary supplies.
  • Prepare meal ingredients by peeling, cutting, chopping, slicing, and portioning.
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings.
  • Assist line cooks during service.
  • Produce menu items in cooperation with the kitchen team.
  • Keep the station clean, organized, and efficient.
  • Rotate inventory correctly.
  • Ensure that all nutrition and sanitation standards are followed.
  • Monitor and report inventory needs to the Sous Chef.
