Hardware Sales Associate Fulltime

Job Summary
  • Assist customers with hardware, tools, paint, lawn & garden, plumbing, electrical, and building materials
  • Deliver exceptional, neighborly customer service and drive sales through knowledgeable recommendations.
  • Maintain an organized, clean store environment.
  • Seasonal, Part-time, and Full-time positions available with flexible scheduling and opportunities for growth.
  • Praise worthy customer service is our goal in every customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service
    • Greet customers warmly and offer proactive assistance throughout their shopping experience.
    • Assess needs, recommend suitable products, and provide clear explanations of features, usage, and compatibility.
    • Demonstrate products when applicable and resolve inquiries, complaints, or returns promptly.
  • Sales & Transactions
    • Process sales accurately and efficiently using POS systems, handling cash, credit, and discounts.
    • Upsell and cross-sell complementary items to meet sales goals and enhance customer projects.
    • Track personal and store performance metrics and participate in promotional campaigns.
  • Merchandising & Inventory
    • Receive, stock, price, and organize merchandise to ensure appealing, accessible displays.
    • Conduct regular inventory checks, report low stock, and assist with unloading shipments.
    • Build and maintain promotional displays and endcaps.
  • Store Operations & Maintenance
    • Keep sales floor, aisles, and workstations clean, safe, and hazard-free.
    • Assist with opening/closing procedures, store meetings, and team tasks.
    • Load customer purchases into vehicles and follow safety protocols for tools and materials.
  • All other duties as assigned by store management
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Education
    • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Experience
    • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred; hardware knowledge is a plus but not required (comprehensive training provided).
  • Skills & Abilities
    • Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
    • Friendly, outgoing personality with a passion for helping others.
    • Basic math proficiency and comfort with POS systems.
    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work both independently and in a team.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
    • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs; climb ladders; bend, stoop, and reach.
    • Reliable transportation and professional appearance.
    • 16 years of age or older (18 years of age or older to operate power equipment).
  • Other
    • Commitment to BigToolBox customer-first attitude, honesty, and teamwork.
