Job description

The job of the Foreman is essential to the success of the projects at Rock Spring Contracting. A Foreman must have the ability to run large commercial construction jobs and have knowledge and experience in all aspects of the drywall trade. This position will be responsible for working with the Superintendent and Project Manager in ensuring that a job runs smoothly day to day and providing on-site supervision and support. The Success of the position will be determined by jobs being completed safely, on time and on budget.


Essential Duties:

  • Read and Interpret Plans and Specifications
    • Must be able to read plans and perform layout for all types of jobs
    • Reading and Implementing Engineer and shop drawings
  • Determine, schedule and verify correct manpower for assigned jobs based on budget and schedule needs.
    • Determine and communicate necessary manpower to keep job running on schedule
  • Effectively communicate with GC Project Superintendents and Management.
    • Develop good relationships with GCs on-site
    • Attend meetings as scheduled by GC field personnel
    • Complete and submit all required reports: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Incident
  • Be the leader on the job.
    • Be a presence and go-to person for Rock Spring employees, GC employees and foremen from other trades.
    • Be able to recognize and enforce quality control
    • Ensure timely completion of rolling completion lists and punch lists
    • Keep the job clean and orderly. (trash, material, equipment, supplies, etc)
    • Present yourself and Rock Spring in a professional manner
  • Assist PM staff and Superintendent in pricing RFIs and field changes
    • Determine Labor needed for RFIs
    • Help PM determine material needed based on field conditions
    • Track and write tickets for work requested outside of contract
  • Exhibit a commitment to safety
    • Understand what it takes to have a safe job site
    • Attend Safety meetings as required
    • Ability to obtain and maintain OSHA 30 certification
    • Enforce safety with the entire team
      • Ensure all employees know the safety procedures of RSC and the GC customers
      • Conduct safety training and toolbox talks
      • Report all incidents as soon as possible to Rock Spring and GC Safety team
    • Work to ensure material is on-site to achieve the expected production and minimize waste.
      • Perform field take-offs and material verifications as needed to verify stud heights, field conditions and site-specific conditions.
      • Place orders, scheduling deliveries and minimizing waste.
      • Request materials with realistic lead times and delivery windows.
      • Work with personnel on-site to verify stocking means and methods
    • Other Duties as assigned
