Job Overview 

Bell & Evans is seeking a motivated Controls Technician to join our fast-growing team. In this role, you will support the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical, electronic, and electromechanical systems across our production facilities. As you gain experience, you’ll take on more advanced responsibilities—including PLC troubleshooting, control systems work, and automation support. 

1st SHIFT AVAILABLE

What You’ll Do 

  • Perform all work safely and follow all Bell & Evans safety guidelines, including lockout/tagout.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic components of production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical circuits, read schematics, and follow detailed instructions.
  • Connect to PLCs, read ladder logic, and perform basic PLC/HMI programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff preferred).
  • Set up and troubleshoot VFDs, servo systems, and temperature control systems (including basic PID tuning).
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) on automated and mechanical equipment.
  • Complete work orders, documentation, and basic computer-based reporting.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and improvement projects.
  • Repair and maintain sensors, motors, relays, safety circuits, and other panel components.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a strong team-oriented environment.
  • Communicate clearly with maintenance, automation technicians, and management regarding equipment issues.
  • Maintain and bring necessary personal tools as required for the position.

What We’re Looking For 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical systems, motors, VFDs, relays, sensors, and control circuits.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and perform basic PLC/HMI tasks.
  • Familiarity with automated machinery—mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and diagnose issues quickly and safely.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Beckhoff PLCs.
  • Experience with VFD/servo setup and temperature controls.
  • Previous electromechanical or mechatronics technician experience.
  • Ability to support installations, special projects, and process improvements.
  • Willingness to obtain certifications in PLC programming, robotics, and automation.
