Sustainability Operations Specialist


Help build the future of plastic recycling with award-winning non-profit Plastic Beach. as we tackle one of the trickiest plastic waste streams—soft plastics. We bring together community partners, brands, and funders to pilot solutions that has already kept nearly 150 tons of plastic out of landfills and oceans.

What you’ll do:

  • Sustainability Operations - Hands-on leadership in our growing recycling operation
  • Route Operations - Oversee and build collection routes in the SD / OC areas (act as a Reserve driver of full-size EV van/box truck for SD / OC - LA County area collections as needed)
  • Recycling Operations - Oversee and improve our warehouse operations and efficiency, and assist in daily tasks as needed
  • Biz Development & Community Engagement - Work with the management team to strategize growth and deepen relationships across the community to foster higher flex film recycling rates
  • Track and learn: Maintain statistics and be a great brand ambassador


You are:

  • A clear communicator who can tailor a pitch from community partner to Fortune 500 CSM lead.
  • Organized and self-directed - able to manage time and hit goals
  • Experienced Driver (ideally 1+ years) - able to safely drive a van or similar for 4 hrs+ in Hwy/city traffic
  • Comfortable mastering new skills - Forklift operations (we'll train & certify you!), baling etc
  • A connector - who enjoys outreach, follow-through, and closing the sale.
  • Energized by environmental impact - and practical circular-economy solutions.
  • Experience in Sustainability (ideally 1+ years) in sales/business development—or you’ve done something similar and can show results.
  • Comfortable with decks and one-pagers (Slides/PowerPoint/Canva).
  • Experienced with LinkedIn outreach and light campaign coordination.

  • Full-Time, 36 hours/week inc limited Hybrid
