Job description

Execution Planning Manager has the responsibility to lead the creation of an execution plan during a proposal period, which is the period of time prior to being awarded a project.  Once the project has been awarded, the Execution Planning Manager is responsible for leading the enhancement of the execution plan and aligning it with the project schedule during the life cycle of the project.  The Execution Planning Manager will use Zachry's Project Execution Planning Process (ZPEPP) to ensure proper project planning and execution including the implementation of the AWP process.  The expectation is that at some point this person will follow one of the assigned projects to the field in a leadership capacity on that project (such as a General Field Superintendent or AWP Manager).

REQUIREMENTS

Education: 

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  

Employees will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems. Position will be based from an on-site office on construction sites and industrial facilities requiring mobility (on ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and work boots

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employees will work in multiple environments including an office, warehouse and in a trailer or building on construction sites.  On construction sites noise levels will be moderate to high.  Job sites will contain - light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling and talking, bells whistles and alarms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop the skill set and assist in career development of the Execution Planning Coordinator(s) who are under your supervision.

  • Collaborate with proposed Project & Corporate Leadership during the proposal period to develop the project execution strategy.

  • Lead the development, creation, and compilation of the different components of a project execution plan from various corporate support groups, e.g. safety and quality, as well as operational groups, e.g. engineering, procurement and construction.

  • Initiate and assist in the development of a project timeline during the proposal period, which will serve as the basis for project engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up (EPCS) schedule. Implement the AWP Process for the creation of the Work Breakdown Structure.

  • Organize and present the proposal execution plan to the project team prior to submission of the proposal. 

  • Monitor and lead the development of project constructability/best practice strategies from the collection of lessons learned through a series of site audits and communication workshops.
