Material Handler

We are searching for an experienced Material Handler at our Salt Lake City, UT facility. The Material Handler and receiver is responsible for the efficient movement, storage, and control of materials throughout the facility. This role involves receiving shipments, verifying inventory, delivering materials to production areas, and maintaining accurate inventory records. The Material Handler ensures smooth and timely flow of materials to support production processes while adhering to safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential functions/duty satisfactorily.   • Collaborate with procurement staff to list expected deliveries.
  • Receive shipments, verify packages according to order and invoices and sign paperwork upon receipt.
  • Unload packages from incoming trucks and inspecting contents to ensure they are undamaged and hold driver accountable prior to unloading/end of transaction.
  • Contact supplier or shipper if a mistake is identified and manage the return of unsatisfactory shipments or receiving replacements.
  • Label deliveries and allocate them to their designated place.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory.
  • Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.
  • Maintain in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.
  • Document materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units.
  • Receive credit-return material and supplies from production by verifying materials and supplies code and lot number and quantity, placing materials in stock.
  • Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.
  • Documenting product shipment by recording units shipped and maintaining material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections, making operator repairs.
  • Responsible for supporting and complying with the company's Integrated Management System, which aligns with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 45001 (Health and Safety) standards.
  • Must follow established procedures, contribute to continual improvement, and promote a culture of quality, environmental responsibility, and workplace safety in all aspects of their work.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Safety Requirements: Comply with the company safety policies and requirements. Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards. Attend scheduled safety training. Actively support the organization's efforts to meet or exceed safety goals and plans. Recommend improved safety practices. Practices safe work habits and follows general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment and use of personal protection equipment (PPE). Adheres to and ensures lockout procedures are followed any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained.

Minimum Requirements: (include education, experience, special skills, licenses and/or certifications required. The list below represents the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Two (2) years related material handler or receiving clerk experience and or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with inventory control or inventory management. Basic math and recording abilities. Organized, deadline-oriented, able to lift boxes and move pallets/crates. Prior forklift operation experience or the ability to obtain forklift certification within a reasonable timeframe. Must be able to read and comprehend all documentation in English. Working knowledge of ERP computer programs for entering data. Preferred: Infor experience.

Physical Requirements - Must be able to perform the following functions with or without accommodations: Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and frequent fine finger dexterity. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks over an 8-hour period. The job is performed under occasional temperature variations and in a manufacturing production environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift to 50 – 75 lbs. is required. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes (steel or composite toe), and any other PPE applicable to the position.
