Bulk Fuel Handler in Training

Location: Thunder Bay

The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) is a nonprofit organization that provides technical advisory services, training, and capacity development to First Nations communities in Ontario. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Bulk Fuel Handler in Training to join our team at OFNTSC. Under the guidance of the Bulk Fuel Handler, the Bulk Fuel Handler in Training will play a crucial role in preparing, reviewing, and managing reports, maintaining filing systems, delivering training programs to First Nations, and doing site inspections of fuel systems, and providing a report to the clients. This position requires being able to present to small or large groups both in person and online, the ability to work with minimal supervision, also a sensitivity to the unique needs of Indigenous people.

These tasks must be executed in alignment with the culture and values of OFNTSC while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with maintaining filing systems in accordance with office records management procedures and retention policies.
• Prepare, review, and maintain reports, training records, inspection documentation, and correspondence.
• Submit weekly and monthly schedules and activity updates to the Program Lead.
• Assist with delivery of fuel handling and safety training programs to First Nations clients through in-person sessions, webinars, and online platforms in a professional and respectful manner.
• Conduct site inspections of fuel systems and assist with preparing detailed inspection reports and recommendations for clients.
• Assist with planning, coordinating, and delivering fuel-related training initiatives for First Nations communities.
• Register clients for training programs under the Fuel Program and maintain accurate participant records.
• Prepare, issue, and mail training certificates to clients following course completion.
• Coordinate the shipping, delivery, and tracking of spill response equipment to First Nations communities.
• Maintain training equipment, spill response equipment, and inventory records to ensure accountability and readiness.
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining departmental equipment inventory and supplies.
• Provide fuel-related technical advisory support and customer service to First Nations clients as directed.
• Assist with preparing technical correspondence, procedures, presentations, and training materials that may include photos, charts, and graphs.
• Support departmental administrative functions, including filing, scanning, photocopying, and document organization.
• Maintain professional communication with clients, community representatives, vendors, and internal departments.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology, Mechanical Technology, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related technical program.
• PMH/PM3 Certificate or ability to obtain.
• Experience working with an Indigenous organization and understanding of First Nations cultures is considered a significant asset.
• Experience working in the petroleum, fuel handling, environmental services, construction, or related industry is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of fuel systems, spill response procedures, fuel handling practices, and safety regulations is an asset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Google Suite, and Adobe.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with First Nations communities, clients, and team members.
• Physically capable of performing fieldwork, including extended periods of standing, walking, and lifting equipment when required.

Conditions:

• Reliable, insured vehicle and Valid Class G Ontario driver's license.
• Out-of-town traveling is required through the province of Ontario, with priority on remote First Nations.
