Weekend Night Transportation Dispatcher

Schedule Details:
  • Thursday - Sunday
  • Night Shift: 7:00 PM until completion of all deliveries (hours may vary based on delivery volume)
  • 10 hour shifts

Job Summary
The Dispatcher oversees nightly delivery operations to ensure all products are delivered safely, accurately, and on time. This position overseas drivers, coordinates with production, monitors delivery routes, resolves operational issues, and communicates with stores and management to maintain efficient delivery operations. Working days will be Thursday through Sunday night.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Report to work at 7:00 PM and remains on duty until all deliveries have been completed.

  • Assign delivery routes to drivers and provide route instructions and operational support before departure.

  • Coordinate with the production team to ensure all orders are complete and ready for delivery.

  • Supervise and assist with bagging, staging, and loading delivery vehicles.

  • Monitor delivery progress using Samsara fleet management software.

  • Maintain communication with drivers throughout the shift to address questions, delays, vehicle issues, or other concerns.

  • Communicate delivery delays or service issues to store locations in a timely manner.

  • Keep the management team informed of operational issues, accidents, equipment failures, and other significant events.

  • Submit Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) to Penske and coordinate vehicle maintenance and repair services.

  • Promote safe driving practices and ensure compliance with company policies and transportation procedures.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of one year of experience in transportation, logistics, distribution, or delivery operations preferred.

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

  • Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business needs require.

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, and transportation safety practices is a plus.

  • Strong organizational, Communication, & Problem Solving Skills

  • Experience using fleet management or GPS tracking software; Samsara experience is preferred.

  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and email.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and loading products.
