Graywolf is seeking a Ironworker at our Oxford, NC project site

Summary:

A journeyman level Ironworker has a minimum of 4 years heavy industrial experience as a Ironworker and is responsible for moving extra-heavy equipment, machinery, and materials that are impossible to be moved through conventional methods. A rigger makes use of cranes and lifts to help transport heavy equipment, machinery, or large heavy cargo such as manufacturing equipment or construction machinery. 


Essential Duties: 

  • Safely and competently identify and use advanced rigging procedures and equipment.
  • Locates needed material or equipment to be moved by lift and secures those materials following safety guidelines.
  • Sets up frame work of building by positioning steel girders or other structural elements and then bolting them into place or prepares them for permanent bolding and/or welding.
  • Ensure that all reinforcing material is in its proper position so that it receives its intended structural load.
  • Read blueprints, drawings or pictures and understand how they would look as solid objects with height,width or depth.
  • Visualizes objects in three-dimensions from plans and drawings.
  • Oxyfuel Cutting – safely perform the following oxyfuel cutting tasks:  straight line and square shapes, piercing and slot cutting.
  • Communicates and works cooperatively and effectively with all personnel, good math skills for calculating load requirements.
  • Understand and complete pre-lift checklists and assist operator with lift plans as needed. 
  • Must be proficient in the use of hand signals.

Qualifications: 

  • Four (4) years minimum heavy industrial field experience as an Ironworker.
  • Must have locking toolbox and tools necessary to perform the job.
  • Be able to reeve up and demonstrate the proper use of a block using multiple part line configuration (4 part minimum).
  • Must be able to successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements. 

Physical/Site Requirements:

  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds.
  • Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Work at heights with fall protection, work from manlifts, baskets, JLG’s etc.
  • PPE footwear/prescription safety glasses or eye shields required.
