Position Summary

The Unloader / Blender Operator plays a critical role in safely receiving raw materials, operating blending processes, supporting production activities, and maintaining operational excellence within the facility. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Unloader Operations

  • Receive and unload 100-ton railcars of raw materials on designated rail tracks.
  • Operate mobile equipment, including:
    • Trackmobile
    • Forklift
    • Front-end loader
    • Skid steer
  • Transfer raw materials into the appropriate storage tanks.
  • Monitor and document raw material inventories and production metrics during each shift.
  • Assist with railcar switching operations and maintain clean, organized rail areas by following 5S practices.
  • Follow Leader Standard Work (LSW) requirements and complete daily, weekly, and monthly inspections.
  • Maintain and update railcar tracking and operational metrics.
  • Monitor coal milling operations and make process adjustments as required.

Blender Operations

  • Lead blending activities by following customer specifications to produce accurate product formulations.
  • Manage the blending process from work-in-process (WIP) through finished product storage tanks.
  • Add required additives according to established mixing procedures.
  • Produce Additrol™ bonded products for the metal casting industry while meeting quality and manufacturing standards.
  • Support plant operations in achieving world-class performance, beginning with a strong focus on safety.
  • Execute all blending jobs according to customer and manufacturing specifications.
  • Follow Leader Standard Work (LSW) procedures to ensure successful completion of production activities.
  • Coordinate with dispatch personnel and transportation carriers regarding inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Assist with maintenance activities as needed.
  • Perform housekeeping and cleanup duties to maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with plant-wide cleanup and housekeeping activities.
  • Support maintenance projects as assigned.
  • Perform clerical and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Complete all other duties assigned by plant leadership.

Computer knowledge a plus. Maintenance background a plus. Travel: 

This position does not ordinarily require travel. Travel for coursework or education could be required on a very infrequent basis. Some opportunity for travel could be available if desired to assist other plants within the network.

Working Conditions:  

Manufacturing setting – warehouse, production facility, rail car unloading and sand conveyor.  Working in all outdoor elements is required.

Work Hours:

Hourly, Monday – Friday. Standard 40 hours per week. Overtime is offered voluntarily and then mandatory, weekend work rarely per year.

Safety Training: 

Required training will be given on site.
