Job description


Position Summary

The Assistant Operator is relied upon for providing onsite support services for the Vacuum Truck Services Division which performs a very diverse range of activities including but not limited to: hydro excavating, confined space entry, spill cleanup, line flushing, and power washing, and assisting with the loading and hauling of various fluids / material. The Assistant Operator will assist with these labour based tasks with a focus on safety, professionalism and teamwork.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Operator with the safe operation of the various units

  • Assist the Operator with the set up and control hoses attached to the pumps to ensure the safe and effective pumping of water

  • Install temporary equipment (including the installation of Victaulic pipe, chemical house, mixing various chemicals)

  • Participate in job site preparation, including the rigging in/out of equipment

  • Spot the safe positioning of equipment

  • Ensure all equipment is cleaned and stored

  • Execute general labor duties on job sites, which include but not limited to truck cleaning, equipment packing, preparation for demobilization, and debris removal from job sites

  • Confined space entry to remove debris and perform detailed cleaning

  • Other duties as required

Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license

  • Previous experience working in various environments (i.e. confined space, heights, noisy and various and extreme weather conditions); Industrial pulp and paper and/or oil and gas experience is also an asset

  • Swamping experience is an asset (i.e. Vacuum and Hydrovac work)

  • Experience working with High Pressure Water Blasting Equipment is an asset

  • Experience working with chemicals is an asset

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform high labor intensity tasks in a team environment

  • Willingness to take direction and work effectively in stressful situations

  • Ability to multitask and adapt to new working environments
