JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: GGC Production Team Member Date Created/Revised: 1.7.2026 Department: Mission and Operations Reports to: TLC FLSA Status: Non- exempt Position Type: Full Time/Part Time MISSION CONTRIBUTIONThrough generous donations, Alabama Goodwill Industries strengthens communities, eliminate barriers to opportunity, and help people reach their full potential through learning and the power of work.

Under the direction of the Team Leader Coach or designee, the Production Team Member is responsible for transporting merchandise from the donor’s vehicle to the donation sorting station, processing and sorting all donations into sellable, salvage, and trash categories, pricing merchandise, sorting and hanging apparel, transporting priced hardline (wares, books/media, shoes, furniture, etc.) and soft-line (apparel and linen) merchandise to the sales floor staging area, providing world-class customer service, and maintaining work area safety with cleanliness and orderliness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure 100% donor and customer satisfaction.
  • Receive incoming donations and issue donation receipts.
  • Sort donations as they arrive into the proper equipment by category and make a proper determination as to the quality of donations; sort identified salvage items.
  • Price hard lines using our Good-Better-Best price guide.
  • Keep abreast of merchandise knowledge, industry trends, brand names, designer labels, current and vintage styles, and price points for hardline and soft-line goods.
  • Sort processed hardline donations into sellable, salvage, and trash categories. Place non-sellable items into salvage containers. Place all other non-sellable items (i.e., broken or non-functioning, wet items, etc.) into the trash.
  • Maintain accurate hardline counts with the goal of 3+ carts (9+ totes) of priced goods stocked on the sales floor per hour.
  • Sort processed soft-line donations into boutique, sellable, and salvage categories with the goal of one dandux per hour or process 4-6 duros per 8-hour work shift.
  • Maintain accurate softlines counts with the goal of 1 Z-rack of 100 pieces stocked on the sales floor per hour.
  • Provide quality assurance by following the 10-point check consistently; checking for tears, stains, wet, smelly, soiled, broken zippers, and missing buttons.
  • Sort, hang, and tag apparel on racks by category and size.
  • Keep the processing area clean and organized.
  • Transport trash to compactor/dumpster and operate compactor as needed.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of trucks from feeder-ADCs.
  • Assist with influx of donations.
  • Crosstrain in the sale of goods, as requested.
  • Complete hands-on and computer-based training as required and per policy.
  • Adhere to all store and personnel policies and procedures, follow good safety and security practices, including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the TLC or ATL.
  • Work Quality - Appropriate processing, selection, and stewardship of donations.
  • Work Quantity - Keep the Goodwill River flowing and consistently meet production count goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferably knowledge of retail and/or stock handling.
  • Preferably knowledge of popular brands, trends, books, electronics, antiques, and collectibles
  • Able to perform basic math skills.
  • Able to demonstrate good judgment in recognizing items appropriate for sale.
  • Able to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
  • Able to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Able to follow instructions and comply with policies and procedures.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team leaders, team members, customers, and clients.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to lift, push, pull up to fifty (50) lbs. with no support regularly. Over fifty (50) lbs., request for additional team member assistance as needed.
  • Able to engage in prolonged standing, walking, and frequent bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Able to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects as required by the job.
  • Able to perform tasks that require repetitive motion. Manual dexterity is required.
