Junior High School Assistant Cross Country Coach for the 2026-2027 Fall Season
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Required Experience or Training
  • Valid Illinois State Teaching, Substitute, and/or ASEP Certification
  • Knowledge of the sport
  • Previous coaching experience at the high school level

Desired Experience or Training
  • Demonstrated ability in the teaching and coaching of a Cross Country program in a multicultural high school and/or unit district
  • Establishes the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by staff.
  • Trains and informs staff, encourages professional growth by encouraging clinic attendance according to local clinic policy.
  • Provides written rules of coach's expectations for student participation in sports.
  • Completes pre-season planning well in advance of starting date. Files a written report to the Athletic Director before the season begins.
  • Conducts well-organized practice sessions.
  • Develops a well-organized game plan.
  • Is innovative, new techniques, ideas, etc., along with established procedures for coaching.
  • Shows respect (verbal, physical, psychological) for all athletes, parents and colleagues.
  • Instills in athletes a competitive spirit for individual and team growth and a desire for intellectual growth and development.

Responsibilities:
  • Has a thorough knowledge of all Athletic Policies approved by the Lisle Board of Education and is responsible for its implementation by the participants in the sports program.
  • Has knowledge of existing district, state, and league regulations; implements same consistently.
  • Understand the proper administrative line of command and refer all requests or grievances through proper channels.
  • Is aware of all public/staff/departmental meetings that require attendance.
  • Attends all required public/staff/departmental meetings and actively contributes to the meeting.
  • Performs any appropriate duties that the Head Coach may assign.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Based on the LEA Collective Bargaining Agreement commensurate with experience. (see attached)
