Job Description

We are seeking a motivated DevOps Engineer II to join our team. In this role, you will focus on individual tasks and small-scale automation within our CI/CD pipelines. You will work closely with senior engineers to learn our infrastructure and help ensure our products are built, tested, and deployed reliably. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to gain hands-on experience with cloud platforms, containerization, and automated systems in a hybrid environment.

This position is based in Vancouver, BC, and the candidate must reside in the Greater Vancouver area, as you will be required to go into the office on a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage AWS EC2 instances and VPC subnets, including understanding security groups and network ACLs.

  • Focus on individual tasks and small-scale automation within specific team CI/CD pipelines.

  • Troubleshoot failing build plans in GitHub Actions or Bamboo and implement basic automated tests.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules and templates.

  • Actively participate in team collaboration, seek mentorship, and contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture.

  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date runbooks and technical documentation to ensure operational knowledge is shared efficiently across the team.

  • Assist in configuring and maintaining basic dashboards, logs, and alert thresholds using monitoring and logging tools.

  • Perform initial triage and documentation of minor production or pipeline incidents, escalating issues to senior engineers as necessary.

  • Help implement and verify basic security configurations, such as vulnerability scanning of application dependencies and container images.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 1-2+ years of experience in DevOps, IT operations, or a similar technical role.

  • Proficiency in basic scripting languages such as Bash or PowerShell.

  • Foundational understanding of Docker containerization.

  • Basic understanding of AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, Security Groups).

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions or Bamboo.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience building node, C++ or .NET project

  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools, and a strong commitment to observability.

Target Base Salary Range: $90,000 - 115,000 CAD
