Position Title: Assistant Museum & Retail Manager
Reports To: Vice President, John Wayne Enterprises
Location: Fort Worth Stockyards, TX
Classification: Non- Exempt | Part-Time | Onsite (includes weekends, holidays, events, and evenings)

Position Summary

John Wayne Enterprises is seeking a motivated and sales-driven Part-Time Assistant Manager to support leadership of the flagship John Wayne Museum & Supply experience in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards.

This role serves as a key on-floor leader focused on driving retail performance, strengthening sales techniques, and delivering a premium guest experience. The Part-Time Assistant Manager will support daily museum and retail operations, maintain strong merchandising standards, and help create an engaging environment where storytelling, heritage, and product come together to create a memorable brand experience.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on retail leadership experience and a strong understanding of consultative selling, customer engagement, and conversion strategies. This individual will work alongside teammates to model effective sales behaviors, build product knowledge, and contribute to achieving store revenue goals.

In partnership with the Museum & Retail Manager, this leader will help coach sales associates, reinforce performance expectations, and support initiatives that build customer loyalty and repeat business. The Part-Time Assistant Manager also serves as a brand ambassador, representing the legacy and values of the John Wayne brand within the Stockyards community.

This position requires a flexible schedule, a proactive leadership style, and a passion for delivering a polished, high-touch retail experience while supporting overall store success.

Core Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

Serve as an onsite leader for the flagship museum and retail location, ensuring smooth daily operations and a consistent customer experience.

Partnering  with a tiered team consisting of Key Holders and Sales Associates responsible for key operational areas including:

  • Front of House Guest Experience
  • Visual Merchandising
  • Back of House Operations
  • Technical / Museum Experience
  • Events & Activations

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing, and coaching high-performing retail and guest experience teams
  • Setting clear expectations for service standards, professionalism, and accountability
  • Providing consistent performance feedback and professional development
  • Creating a culture rooted in ownership, teamwork, and brand pride


Premium Guest Experience & Brand Standards

Maintain a strong and visible floor presence, ensuring guests receive an exceptional, hospitality-forward experience aligned with the John Wayne brand.

Responsibilities include:

  • Modeling elevated service standards and guest engagement
  • Ensuring associates confidently tell the story of John Wayne’s legacy and products
  • Managing guest escalations with professionalism and discretion
  • Maintaining an environment that reflects the quality, authenticity, and heritage of the brand

Retail Sales Leadership & Business Performance

Collaborate with the Manager to support  the overall retail business performance of the flagship location.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coaching associates on client engagement and product storytelling
  • Partnering with Home Office teams to drive retail initiatives


Visual Merchandising & Brand Presentation

Ensure the museum store maintains high-end visual merchandising standards that reflect a premium retail environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Executing merchandising direction from the Home Office
  • Ensuring product displays are compelling, organized, and brand-aligned
  • Refreshing displays regularly to highlight new collections and seasonal themes
  • Maintaining retail presentation that supports storytelling and discover


Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in luxury retail, premium lifestyle brands, experiential retail, or hospitality
  • Experience managing high-touch guest experiences and client-facing teams
  • Proven track record of driving retail sales performance and team accountability

Preferred Experience

  • Experience managing flagship retail environments
  • Background in heritage brands, lifestyle retail, museums, or tourism-driven retail environments
  • Experience working in high-traffic tourism or destination retail environments
