Job description

Department: Information Systems
Shift/schedule: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)
GENERAL SUMMARY
Works under the supervision of the Help Desk Manager. The Assistant Help Desk Specialist's primary job function is to perform, in order, all I.S. activities based upon operating instructions. Assist the Help Desk Manager in other tasks. This position may work on any of the three shifts as staffing requires. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
• Associate Degree in IT - specific curriculum preferred
• Bachelor Degree with IT - specific curriculum preferred or, Associate Degree with Software Development Certification preferred
Licensure:
• None
Experience:
• Three years of IT Help Desk experience preferred or, three years software development preferred
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Performs IS operational procedures
2. Uses good interpersonal, verbal and written skills when dealing with customers.
3. Monitors program display screens as directed.
4. Verifies that reports for various users are complete before releasing them from the I.S. department.
5. Maintains all documentation on each shift.
6. Assists helpdesk clients with questions concerning software and hardware.
7. Enters and updates asset information as necessary.
8. Follows established procedures to assist customers with desktop, laptop, terminal, printers, and scanner issues.
9. Prioritizes incoming calls and escalates to appropriate level as necessary.
10. Utilizes call tracking software to record and resolve customer issues.
11. Other duties as assigned.
