Compensation for this position is expected to range between $30.00 and $31.50 per hour, in alignment with what California Baptist University (CBU) reasonably anticipates paying for this role. The final rate may vary depending on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and prevailing market conditions. Position Summary Information
Summary
The Graphic Designer supports the California Baptist University Marketing and Communications team by providing graphic design services that advance the University's marketing and branding efforts. This role contributes to various design projects, including but not limited to digital, print, advertising, and social media, while ensuring consistency with established brand standards. ***Please submit your online portfolio in the "Relevant URL" in the Applicant Documents section.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Assist team members of the Marketing and Communication division in developing, designing, and producing marketing and promotional materials.
  2. Work on multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high standards of excellence, adherence to university graphic standards, and a positive, collaborative attitude.
  3. Meet project deadlines set by the supervisor. Proactively communicate any risks to timelines and propose solutions when delays are anticipated.
  4. Share and consistently express the division's commitment to express Christ's attitude of service, excellence, humility, and dignity in each interaction with university clients and external vendors.
  5. Ensure all working materials, including artwork files, photographs, samples, etc., are properly archived and cataloged for future reference.
  6. Stay informed on current design, branding and marketing trends through ongoing research and professional development.
  7. Assist in discovery meetings with clients and internal departments to understand the full scope and objectives of their marketing efforts.

  • Understanding of print production, file preparation, and digital asset optimization.
  • Knowledge of specifications for web, social media platforms, and large-format outputs, such as billboards, signage, and related.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Graphic Design or related field, or one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful experience in a related field that requires strong organizational and relational skills.
