Job description

Who We Are:
Minnesota United FC (MNUFC) is a professional soccer club competing in Major League Soccer (MLS), the top tier of soccer in North America. As a club driven by passion and community, we operate under the oversight of the U.S. Soccer Federation, a member of FIFA. Our headquarters are in Golden Valley, MN, with soccer operations based at the MNUFC Training Center in Blaine. On matchdays, we call Allianz Field in St. Paul home-one of the premier soccer-specific stadiums in the country.
Position:
The Motion & Match Production Designer is part of the Marketing & Communications department for Minnesota United FC (MNUFC), a sports business located in the Twins Cities area of Minnesota and a member of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top tier soccer league in North America.
Position Summary:
At its core, this is a motion design role with live production capabilities. You'll be concepting, building, and maintaining content, including within the Ross XPression environment and stepping into the operator seat as needed. This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of craft and controlled chaos.
This is a full-time role primarily based in Golden Valley, MN and will require local travel between MNUFC locations, including Allianz Field in St. Paul.
Why You'll Love It Here:
At MNUFC, we believe storytelling has the power to connect people and create unforgettable moments. As a Motion & Match Production Designer, you'll be at the center of that by designing content fans see on the boards and then running it live when the lights come on. There's nothing quite like being in the control room when a goal goes in.
This is a role with real creative ownership and room to grow. You'll work alongside experienced producers in a professional environment, deepen your live production chops on a world-class stadium system, and have a direct hand in shaping the matchday experience at Allianz Field. If you're early in your career and looking for a place to build serious skills fast, this is that opportunity.
We're a collaborative, fast-paced, people-first organization fueled by creativity, teamwork, and a shared love for the world's game. If you're energized by live events, take pride in your design craft, and thrive under pressure, we'd love to have you join us.
What You'll Do:
Design & Motion
  • Create dynamic motion graphics for in-stadium LED displays, broadcast, digital, and social platforms - with a strong eye for composition, timing, and visual consistency
  • Develop and maintain Ross XPression templates and show files that serve the full range of matchday content needs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Corporate Partnerships, and Community Relations to bring creative concepts to life
  • Stay current on motion design trends and push the club's visual storytelling forward across platforms

Live Production & Operations
  • Support Ross XPression operation on non-league matchdays, and serve as a capable backup operator for MLS matches when the primary operator is unavailable
  • Serve as a reliable, composed presence in the control room - managing live changes, tight windows, and last-minute requests without breaking stride
  • Coordinate with the production team to ensure all graphic and video elements are QC'd, organized, and ready ahead of every match
  • Support stadium LED workflows, including content routing across multiple display zones at Allianz Field
  • Assist with non-match events and special productions as needed

What You'll Bring:
  • 2+ years of motion graphics experience in sports, entertainment, broadcast, or live event environments
  • Working knowledge of Ross XPression with an emphasis on template and show file development, DataLinq, Dashboard, and basic visual logic - operational experience is a plus and will be required for non-league events; familiarity with the Tessera hardware system is a plus
  • Intermediate proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with an emphasis on After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator; Premiere, Cinema 4D, or Blender experience a plus
  • A portfolio or demo reel that demonstrates your motion design range - sports production work, broadcast aesthetics, and/or XPression template examples will stand out
  • A sharp, trained eye for composition, hierarchy, and visual storytelling - you think critically about why something looks the way it looks
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver polished work in deadline-driven environments
  • A genuine self-starter mindset, you're comfortable taking creative ownership of a project from brief to final delivery
  • Control room composure, you've been in live production environments and know how to stay steady when things change fast
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to give and receive creative direction across departments
  • Flexibility to work home matches including nights and weekends

Portfolio:
We're looking for work that demonstrates both your motion design craft and your live production experience. Ideal submissions include a motion reel, XPression show file or template examples (if shareable), and any in-stadium or broadcast work you're proud of. Show us what you've made and what your role was in making it.
Compensation & Benefits:
Minnesota United FC values the contributions of our team members and is committed to transparency in our compensation practices. The annual salary range for this role is $50,000 - $55,000. We provide a competitive benefits package that includes health coverage, retirement savings plans, paid time off, and additional perks to support you both personally and professionally.
MNUFC is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome all qualified applicants and do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
