Job Description
Job Description

CMS Mortgage is looking for a Loan Officer Assistant to serve as a true right-hand partner to our Loan Officer. This is not an entry-level support role. We are seeking someone with strong mortgage experience who is client-facing, detail-oriented, and confident in managing files and communication from application through pre-approval and beyond.

Required Experience (Read Before Applying):

  • This role requires a minimum of 2 years of recent mortgage industry experience. Applicants without direct experience as a Loan Officer, Loan Officer Assistant, Processor, or Underwriter will not be considered.
  • You will be introduced to every client from day one as a core member of the loan team. You will support the pre-approval pipeline, manage client and agent communication, follow up with active and inactive leads, and ensure files are clean, structured, and moving forward.
  • When the Loan Officer is unavailable, you are the knowledgeable and reliable point of contact that clients and agents trust.
  • If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and take pride in keeping files organized and communication consistent, this role is a strong fit.

Compensation & Perks:

  • Competitive base compensation commensurate with experience.
  • Per-loan bonus structure with additional performance bonuses at volume milestones.
  • Paid access to tools and training resources.
  • Flexible hybrid work structure.
  • Direct mentorship and exposure to a high-performing mortgage operation.

Compensation:

$20 - $30 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Review and reconcile all incoming applications, including credit, income, and documentation prior to the Loan Officer review
  • Run AUS (DU/LP), identify appropriate loan structure, and flag potential issues early
  • Manage the pre-approval pipeline from application through pre-approval letter issuance
  • Generate and update pre-approval letters quickly and accurately
  • Provide client and realtor communication via phone, text, and email throughout the process
  • Coordinate file setup in ARIVE upon receipt of a purchase agreement, ensuring accuracy of contacts and contract details
  • Provide ongoing borrower updates and milestone communication
  • Follow up with pre-approved clients, incomplete applications, and refinance opportunities
  • Participate in weekly pipeline meetings and maintain accountability across all active files

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2+ years of mortgage industry experience required (non-negotiable)
  • Experience as a Loan Officer Assistant, Mortgage Processor, Underwriter, or Loan Officer strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of income calculation, including self-employed borrowers
  • Hands-on experience with credit review and AUS systems (DU/LP)
  • Ability to structure files and support pre-approvals independently
  • Strong understanding of loan programs, including Conventional, FHA, VA, and Non-QM
  • Prior experience in the broker channel is a plus
  • Familiarity with working across multiple lenders and pricing scenarios is preferred

The Mindset We Cannot Train

  • Detail-oriented, with strong follow-through and accuracy
  • Proactive communicator who keeps clients and the Loan Officer informed
  • Calm under pressure and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Organized and able to manage a high-volume pipeline
  • Professional, warm, and confident in client-facing communication

Please Note:

This is not an entry-level role. We are specifically seeking candidates with prior mortgage experience who can step into the role and contribute immediately.
