Job description

Overview:

The Beam Hauler is responsible for transporting large beams between different departments warper to storage racks within the textile mill. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient flow of materials, which supports uninterrupted production processes. The Beam Hauler will work closely with machine operators, warehouse staff, and quality control teams to ensure that materials are delivered on time and in good condition.

Shift: 2nd shift and 3rd shift (8hr M-F)

Key Responsibilities:

Transporting Beams:

  • Safely and efficiently haul fabric or yarn beams from storage areas to production machines and between departments as needed.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, beam trolleys, or manual carts.

Loading and Unloading:

  • Assist in loading and unloading beams onto and off of production machines or storage racks.
  • Ensure that beams are securely fastened during transport to prevent damage or accidents.

Inventory Management:

  • Keep accurate records of beams transported, including quantities, sizes, and destinations.
  • Coordinate with inventory and warehouse teams to maintain an organized and efficient workflow.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect beams for any visible defects or damages before and after transport.
  • Report any issues to the appropriate department for further inspection or action.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment and handling beams.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with production staff to understand material requirements and prioritize beam deliveries.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or logistics role, preferably in a textile mill, is an advantage.
  • Proficient in operating material handling equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (typically up to 50 lbs or more).
