Description:

The Gus Machado College of Business at St. Thomas University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month/academic year, faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Accounting.

Candidates with relevant background and experience in the following:

  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Advanced Managerial and Financial Accounting

  • Audit or Taxation

  • Legal, regulatory and compliance in Accounting

Business ethics are encouraged to apply.

Requirements:

Candidates must have a doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution at the time of hire in Accounting and/or Business Administration or in a related area with outstanding academic credentials that clearly demonstrate their ability to teach courses and conduct independent and successful research in Accounting and related areas. Candidates must have excellent communication skills with a commitment to engage in a first-rate undergraduate, graduate and doctoral education. Responsibilities for the positions include teaching, student advising and mentoring at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels, and development of programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in Accounting and/or Business Administration, or related field with minimum 18 credits of post graduate Accounting course work or an active Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) license demonstrated background and experience.

  • Deep knowledge in specialized areas such as Advanced Financial Accounting, Auditing, Tax Strategy, or Forensic Accounting.

  • Evidence of/potential for scholarly work in Accounting, Auditing or Taxation and related domains.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in college-level teaching, mentoring, and research consistent with appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.

  • Experience collaborating with industry on research.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team to achieve project goals.

  • Commitment to working collaboratively with a network of faculty, institutions, and industry

  • Evidence of successful grant procurement related to the discipline of Accounting.
