Who We Are
The Texas A&M University Career Center provides centralized career and professional development services for undergraduate, graduate, and former students. We provide individualized career advising while also empowering students to utilize self-assessment resources to identify and explore careers, and we assist and support students in gaining relevant experience and pursuing their career goals, whether they choose to seek admission to graduate school or professional school, or secure professional employment. One of the largest programs of its kind in the nation, the Career Center has been recognized nationally and regionally for our many best practices. The Career Center's main office is centrally located on campus in the Koldus Building. There are also numerous satellite locations across campus to provide students convenient access to our services. What We Want
The Career Center is pleased to announce the opening for an Assistant Managing Director, Education and Human Development who will be responsible for providing career advising, planning, and programming to students primarily from the College of Education & Human Development. Key aspects of the position focus on engaging students in areas of career planning, employer and industry research, job search skills/techniques, developing new and innovative programs, and identifying hands-on experiences and professional development opportunities. The Assistant Managing Director serves on the Career Center's Management Team, coordinates committee work and strategic planning processes, supervises staff, and manages career development and education processes. This role will build collaborations across campus with targeted populations and has a greater responsibility for Center-wide projects for the program areas. The ideal candidate will work well in a fast-paced environment and will be a team player with experience building successful collaborations. Starting Salary: $78,000/Annual

Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategic Planning:
Leads, oversees, and manages career services advising and programming for designated colleges/schools with an emphasis on early student engagement, major-specific initiatives, employer outreach, and enhancing collaborative relationships with college/school faculty, staff, administration, student organizations, and students.
Represents the Department, Division, or University on committees and serves as a primary liaison to academic units and college/school leadership (e.g., deans, department heads, faculty, and staff).
Coordinates strategic direction with other members of the management team and provides recommendations to Career Center leadership.
Remains abreast and has the ability to discuss current events taking place in the field of higher education and career services.
Maintains current knowledge base of labor market trends, occupational information, and the local, State, and National employer base.
Supervision and Team Development:
Supervises and evaluates professional staff assigned to specific functional areas.
Facilitates professional development opportunities and fosters a high-performing, collaborative team environment.
Provides guidance and support to staff in the delivery of career advising and programming.
Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate, updated records following office procedures.
Employer Engagement:
Cultivates and maintains relationships with employers to expand student employment opportunities and high-impact experiences.
Oversees the coordination of employer engagement in career events and programming.
Works closely with the employer services program of the Career Center to carry out these duties.
Student Advising and Program Oversight:
Develops, implements, and evaluates career-related programs and services, including large-scale events.
Advises students in areas of career/major exploration, career planning, and job search skills/techniques such as resume writing, job search strategies, networking, and interviewing.
Oversees the execution of innovative technologies for career services delivery, including online platforms and virtual instruction.
Ensures that career-related content and resources are current, engaging, and accessible to students.
Support of Career Center Initiatives:
Oversees execution of the Career Center mission by participating in programs and services including the presentation of workshops and events, drop-in advising, committee work, and team meetings.
Plans strategy for the development and execution of Career Center-wide events, including resume reviews, career fairs, marketing initiatives, and other activities.
Participates in cross-functional teams and develops Center-wide projects as they relate to specific areas of need.
Handles special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by the department leadership.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensures compliance with University, departmental, and governmental policies and procedures.
Develops and maintains reports, analyses, and surveys related to student engagement, employer partnerships, and program effectiveness.
Prepares semester and annual reports for faculty, administration, and stakeholders within the program area.
Coordinates with administrative staff to prepare purchase orders, vouchers, and financial documentation as needed.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Six years of experience in career services, advising, recruiting, or related specialty.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in student affairs or related specialty.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with others.
Excellent customer service and communication skills - interpersonal, written, and presentation.
Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs, and ability to work with and present data.
Experience with complex databases and computer software programs.
Proficiency in researching and utilizing online resources.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple, ongoing programs and services.
