Job description

At IMC Construction, our Assistant Project Managers play a key role in keeping projects organized and moving forward. You'll work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to support all phases of a project, from preconstruction through closeout.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has a solid foundation in construction and is ready to take the next step in their career by getting more exposure to project management, cost control, and client interaction.
What You'll Do
Support Project Execution: Assist in managing projects from post-bid through closeout, helping ensure alignment between scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations. Support the project team in driving coordination across internal teams and trade partners.
Assist with Preconstruction & Buyout: Work with Estimating and Project Management to support bid packaging, scope review, and the buyout process. Help ensure subcontractor scopes are complete and coordinated to avoid gaps or overlaps.
Support Financial Management: Assist in developing and tracking project budgets, monitoring cost performance, and supporting change management efforts. Help review subcontractor invoices and contribute to the preparation of owner pay applications.
Support Schedule & Coordination: Assist in maintaining the project schedule in collaboration with the Superintendent and Project Manager. Help coordinate materials, trades, and project logistics to keep work progressing as planned.
Build Strong Relationships: Maintain positive working relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal team members. Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal interactions.
Support Safety Efforts: Work with field leadership and Safety to uphold IMC's "Safety First" culture. Support the implementation and consistent execution of project-specific safety plans to promote a safe jobsite.
Contribute to Team Success: Support team in day-to-day project activities. Take initiative, stay organized, and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
Skills & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial construction
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Experience supporting RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Familiarity with construction management software (Procore, Primavera/P6, TimberScan, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • LEED experience is a plus
