Position Summary:

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and people-focused Assistant Manager to support our Accounting and Billing department. In this role, you will balance technical financial oversight with team leadership by ensuring billing accuracy, guiding team members, and maintaining smooth day-to-day operations.


The ideal candidate for this leadership role is someone who demonstrates strong attention to detail to catch the smallest errors, cross-functional teamwork by communicating effortlessly across departments, and sound judgment by knowing exactly when to escalate complex issues to senior leadership.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Operational Oversight: Manage daily billing lists, invoice generation, and accounts receivable/payable functions to ensure timeline compliance.
  • Quality Control: Review financial data and reconciliation with a sharp eye for accuracy to eliminate billing discrepancies. Maintain or create SLAs/SOPs.
  • Team Leadership: Serve as a primary mentor for Accounting/Billing Specialists, provide daily guidance for the accounting department, train others, deliver performance feedback, and foster team bonding efforts.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Act as the main point of contact for client billing inquiries and internal departmental coordination; demonstrate ability to explain complex financial details to non-accounting teams.
  • Problem Escalation: Monitor irregularities, resolve standard disputes, and strategically escalate high-risk financial anomalies to senior leadership.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor workloads to identify barriers to success/stop gaps, provide efficiency suggestions, and provide monthly updates to senior leadership.


Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • 1-3+ years of related leadership or high-level accounting experience preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates exceptional client service and operational excellence
  • Routinely satisfies assigned deadlines; strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain consistency and work under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and foster team collaboration
  • Experience with CaseAware, QuickBooks, and other software preferred
