Job description

Maintenance Helper

Triad Service Solutions is seeking a dependable Maintenance Helper to support facility maintenance at a retail property in Saratoga Springs, NY.

This is a hands-on position responsible for assisting with routine maintenance, minor repairs, snow removal, landscaping, and general property upkeep. Candidates must be willing to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on property and operational needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine and preventive facility maintenance
  • Perform minor repairs and general property upkeep
  • Assist with basic plumbing repairs involving toilets, sinks, faucets, drains, and fixtures
  • Assist with lighting repairs and replacement of lamps and fixtures
  • Perform minor painting, patching, hardware, and general building repairs as assigned
  • Inspect assigned areas and identify maintenance or safety concerns
  • Assist with snow and ice removal from sidewalks, entrances, walkways, and other assigned areas
  • Apply ice melt and other approved materials as directed
  • Perform light landscaping and exterior property maintenance
  • Remove leaves, debris, and other materials from exterior areas
  • Assist with moving and transporting tools, equipment, supplies, and materials
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, snow-removal equipment, and other maintenance equipment as trained and authorized
  • Maintain tools, equipment, supplies, and work areas in a clean and organized condition
  • Follow established safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment
  • Respond to maintenance requests and work assignments
  • Identify and report repairs requiring specialized or outside vendor support
  • Report equipment problems, property damage, hazards, and other safety concerns to management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Previous maintenance, facilities, construction, landscaping, or similar hands-on experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of general building maintenance and repairs preferred
  • Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools
  • Dependable and punctual with consistent attendance
  • Strong attention to safety and quality
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Able to follow instructions and established safety procedures
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willing and able to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Comfortable performing indoor and outdoor work
  • Bilingual skills are preferred but not required
  • Basic computer skills preferred

Physical Requirements

Employees may be required to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, reach, and perform repetitive movements
  • Push, pull, carry, and maneuver tools, equipment, and materials
  • Lift, carry, move, and position up to 40 pounds
  • Climb and work from approved ladders
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
  • Shovel snow and perform other physically demanding outdoor tasks
  • Navigate stairs and varying indoor and outdoor surfaces

Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment

This position involves both indoor and outdoor work at a retail facility. Outdoor work may be required in heat, cold, rain, snow, ice, wind, and other changing weather conditions, including during snow and ice events.

Employees may be exposed to moving equipment, electrical components, cleaning or maintenance chemicals, dust, noise, wet or slippery surfaces, and other conditions associated with facility maintenance.
