EDUCATION:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; minimum of five (5) years experience in plant maintenance; and minimum of two (2) years experience in project planning and project execution.

EXPERIENCE:    

  • Possess strong background in the field of Repair & Maintenance, project management, and general manufacturing principles.

  • Must possess good communication skills.

  • Must work well with both technically oriented and non-technically oriented people.

  • Must possess an understanding of mechanical and electrical service of industrial equipment.

  • Basic drafting (preferably CAD) and blueprint reading skills required.

  • Familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance practices preferred.

JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent should be suitably qualified with the requisite skill, demonstrated proficiency and job knowledge in the field of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation technology so as to adequately support the maintenance department in our quest towards sustaining the operational integrity of the plant. Candidates should also be willing to:

  • Supervise the overall routine activities of the maintenance department on all shifts.

  • Assist in various responsibilities for safe operation, design, construction, and maintenance of all physical plant systems and facilities.

  • Assist in the coordination between manufacturing department managers and maintenance technicians, under direction of the Facility Engineering Manager on matters of plant operation involving equipment or process upgrades, replacements, transfers, and maintenance.

  • Interface with manufacturing leaders, other support groups, production planners, and customers.

  • Lead maintenance personnel in a team effort to meet department and plant objectives.

  • Promote, lead, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communicate:

  • Ensure that all shifts provide pertinent equipment breakdown information on communication board.
  • Daily toolbox communication with a special focus on safety - High risk tasks of the day
  • Provide consistent update to manager with regards to critical issues affecting crew members, plant and equipment performance.
  • Actively partake in weekly planning and scheduling meeting
  • Customer Interaction - Pre/Post equipment repair

Lead/Supervise:

  • Mentoring - Must be able to leverage expertise in order to help technicians develop in their respective fields, enhance their education, and build solid relationships with their customers.
  • Coaching - Must be adept at supporting individuals within the team in order for them to achieve a specific personal, result, higher levels of performance, increased job satisfaction, personal growth, and career development.
  • Schedule compliance - The degree to which you lead your team to ascribe to fulfilling the the weekly schedule.
  • Work efficiency - Ensuring work orders are completed in a safe, timely & efficient manner.

Organize & Coordinate:

  • Documentation of standards and facilitating repeated discussions so that crew members are fully aware of the mission.
  • Prepare weekly Schedule for 80% craft utilization.
  • Issue work and follow-up on status - Using daily work log.
  • Ensure that all completed work orders are turned in at the end of each shift
  • Provide help-chain support to technicians when necessary
  • Lead the process for outage/Equipment overhaul planning

Compliance to standards:

  • Ensure compliance with all pertinent EHS mandates
  • Critical eight (8) compliance
  • Contractor Safety compliance
  • TRR, LWD control

Spare Parts Management:

  • Prepare spot-buy Requisition
  • Identify and follow-up on Critical Spare Parts
  • Work with Planner to establish association between parts and tasks in MP2
  • Ensure all technicians are filling out stock item request and attaching copy to work orders.

Task Management:

  • Identify & correct/modify shortfalls with PM task description(s)
  • Optimize WO Documentation (Bill of Material, procedures, assembly dwg etc)
  • Modify task duration and frequency to reflect current demand
  • Ensure strict adherence to priority system when issuing tasks for execution. Safety - P1, Breakdown - P2, schedule - P3. etc
  • Ensure all technicians are wanding on/off work orders
  • Ensure that technicians are providing good feedback information on completed WO

People Management:

  • Establish a clear unanimity of purpose for the maintenance department.
  • Lead the Maintenance Group towards the accomplishment of stated mission
  • Ensure proper time management around breaks, lunch and meetings.
  • Appropriately reward and recognize employees for a job well done.
  • Hold technicians accountable for non-compliance to established objectives
  • Ensure that employees are provided with the necessary tools to satisfactorily perform their jobs.
  • Provide appropriate feedback to improve crew members' performance

Talent development:

  • Identify competency gaps and recommend necessary training
  • Identify above average performers and appropriately recommend such employees for future promotional and developmental opportunities.
  • Facilitate a process to encourage employee to employee training

Asset Management:

  • Identify extraordinary tasks to be performed on equipment.
  • Report obsolescence and make recommendations for replacement
  • Highlight criticality of shutting down equipment to perform needed service.
