Job description

CDL Driver, Long Haul

The CDL Driver, Long Haul is a safety focused, experienced CDL Driver responsible for the planned execution of extended distance and multi day transportation of modular buildings, containers, and related equipment. This role provides dedicated long haul capacity to support enterprise level logistics needs, including network balancing, large scale projects, customer commitments, and sustained regional capacity demands. When long haul deliveries are not required, this role will continue to fulfill local deliveries and returns as needed.

Transportation & Execution

  • Transport modular buildings, containers, and related equipment over extended distances, frequently involving overnight and multi day travel
  • Execute long haul routes in compliance with DOT hours of service regulations, routing plans, and operational schedules
  • Operate tractor trailer combinations and specialized equipment required for modular and container transport
  • Perform on site positioning, setup, and tear down of modular units in accordance with company procedures, safety standards, and customer requirements

Safety & Compliance

  • Conduct thorough pre trip, en route, and post trip inspections to ensure vehicle, trailer, and load safety
  • Secure loads in accordance with DOT regulations, oversize/overweight requirements (where applicable), and company safety standards
  • Maintain accurate logs, records, and documentation required for regulatory, safety, and audit purposes
  • Adhere to all company policies related to safety, fatigue management, and equipment operation

Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate delivery and pickup schedules with dispatch, regional operations teams, project stakeholders, and customers
  • Communicate status updates, delays, or issues proactively while operating independently in the field
  • Support cross regional transfers, surge capacity needs, and special logistics projects as assigned

Documentation & Systems

  • Complete required electronic logs, mileage tracking, inspection reports, delivery documentation, and digital workflow updates
  • Utilize company systems and mobile applications to support tracking, compliance, and customer communication

Professional Standards

  • Represent the company with a high degree of professionalism while operating independently across regions
  • Maintain strong customer service standards during long haul deliveries and interactions at customer or job sites

Education and Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL License
  • Current DOT medical certification
  • Clean or acceptable motor vehicle record, in accordance with company policy
  • Demonstrated experience with long distance or multi day hauling
  • Proven record of safe driving, regulatory compliance, and independent route execution
  • Experience transporting modular units, containers, or comparable heavy or oversized loads preferred
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight and remain on the road for extended periods on a regular basis
