Company Description

REDFORD LOCK
Security Solutions
Purpose, Core Values & Vision
PURPOSE
Redford Lock exists to protect the facilities where people work, learn, and gather by taking complete ownership of the systems that control how buildings are entered, secured, and maintained.
Our work is often invisible until something fails. But when doors function properly, access systems perform as designed, and facilities meet compliance standards, our customers can focus entirely on what they do best. We make that possible.
CORE VALUES
Communication
Open, honest, and timely communication is the foundation of every relationship we have with customers, with each other, and with the partners we work alongside. We share information freely, address problems directly, and keep everyone aligned.
Teamwork
We are stronger together. We share knowledge, support each other in the field and the office, and measure our success by the outcomes our customers experience, not the individual tasks we complete.
Commitment
We follow through. We take ownership of our work, hold ourselves to high standards, and honor the trust our customers place in us every time they call.
Growth
We are committed to getting better at our craft, at our systems, and as a company. We invest in training, embrace change, and push ourselves to deliver more value every year.
VISION
Redford Lock will be recognized across Michigan as the definitive expert in complete door opening management. The company that handles everything from the frame to the software, from the first specification to the last service call.
We serve organizations that operate complex, high-accountability facilities: healthcare systems, school districts, financial institutions, municipalities, and multi-location commercial operations. These organizations depend on their door systems every day, and they cannot afford to manage multiple contractors, chase compliance deadlines, or wonder whether their buildings are truly secure.
Redford Lock eliminates that burden entirely.
Facility managers who work with Redford Lock have one call to make. We handle the mechanical, the electronic, the regulatory, and the ongoing, delivering a fully managed solution across the complete lifecycle of every opening we touch.
STRATEGIC POSITION
Redford Lock is not a locksmith company.
We are Michigan's complete door opening solutions provider.
Where others specialize in a single layer, Redford Lock manages the entire system. We specify, supply, install, integrate, inspect, and service. We understand NFPA 101 life-safety requirements, NFPA 80 fire door compliance, and ADA accessibility standards not as add-ons, but as core competencies built into every project we take on.
This is what separates us from every other provider in the market:
▪ A hardware distributor can sell a door. We can design the opening, install the hardware, integrate the access control, document the system, and inspect it for compliance under one agreement, with one point of accountability.
▪ An alarm integrator can add a card reader. We can make sure the entire opening, including frame, door, hardware, lock, reader, and software, functions as a compliant, coordinated system.
▪ A traditional locksmith can rekey a lock. We can redesign an entire master key architecture, integrate it with electronic access, and maintain it across hundreds of doors for the life of the facility.
No one else in the region does all of this. Redford Lock does.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
Redford Lock wins because we remove friction for the organizations we serve.
Complete Capability
Our technicians understand door openings as systems, mechanical, electronic, and regulatory, not as isolated components. This allows us to solve problems that others cannot diagnose, and to deliver solutions that hold up over time.
Speed and Preparedness
We carry the inventory to act. When a facility has a door that will not latch, a closer that failed, or an access reader that is offline, we arrive ready to resolve it, not to assess and order. Downtime is not acceptable in the environments we serve, and we operate accordingly.
Compliance Expertise
Life-safety inspections (NFPA 101), fire door compliance (NFPA 80), and ADA accessibility are areas where our customers carry real regulatory and legal exposure. Redford Lock understands these standards and helps facilities stay ahead of them, reducing risk, not just fixing doors.
RECURRING SERVICE & LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT
As Redford Lock grows, we deepen our role from service provider to long-term partner.
Through service agreements and lifecycle management programs, we take ongoing responsibility for the health and performance of door systems across entire facilities. We track opening conditions, schedule inspections, manage compliance documentation, and proactively address issues before they become failures.
Over time, recurring service and lifecycle management will represent 10-20% of company revenue, creating predictable value for our customers and long-term stability for the business.
OUR PEOPLE
Redford Lock is built on the belief that skilled tradespeople are professionals, and that mastery of a technical craft is something to be proud of.
Our technicians develop deep expertise across commercial door systems, hardware installation and service, master key system design, electronic access control, camera integration, and compliance standards. Apprentices learn from experienced technicians, creating a pipeline of skill and knowledge that strengthens the company with each passing year.
Employees understand that their work matters. The buildings we service are where communities gather, where students learn, and where businesses operate. What we do behind the scenes makes all of that function safely.
Redford Lock is also a place people enjoy being. We invest in the culture of the team through events, shared experiences, and the kind of environment where people can build long careers doing work they are genuinely good at.
Employees are proud of the expertise they have developed and the important role they play in protecting the facilities their communities depend on.
GROWTH & FINANCIAL OUTCOMES
Through disciplined operations, strong customer relationships, and a reputation built on expertise, Redford Lock grows into a $6-8 million organization with 25-35 employees.
Each morning, Redford Lock service vehicles leave the shop and spread across Michigan. Technicians travel to hospitals, schools, banks, and commercial facilities that depend on secure, functioning door systems every day. They arrive prepared with the tools, knowledge, and inventory needed to solve problems on the spot, because Redford Lock maintains strong inventory levels and equips every vehicle with the parts needed most.
Service, hardware, and project work remain the core of the business. Recurring service agreements and lifecycle management programs grow to represent 10-20% of revenue, providing stability and increasing the long-term enterprise value of the company.
Redford Lock will be the company that facility managers across Michigan trust to manage their openings, not because we were the first call they made, but because we were the one that never let them down.
